When the Mirage opened on the strip, it was recognized as the first Mega Resort. Reportedly needing to earn over $1 million per day, Steve Wynn knew that he had to have the most impressive and family friendly show in Las Vegas. Thus began the creation of the Siegfried and Roy show.

Beginning in 1990, the show featured the two German born magicians, who already had an impressive resume on the strip along with showgirls, and more wild animals than had ever appeared on one stage. Siegfreid and Roy became the caretakers and saviors of the White Tiger, which were near extinction in the 1980's.

After a stint with the original MGM Grand's Hallelujah Hollywood and a return to the Lido, Siegfried and Roy at last starred in their own full-length production show, Beyond Belief, which ran at the Strip's Frontier hotel-casino from 1981 to 1988. In 1990 they were hired by Steve Wynn, then owner of The Mirage, for an annual guarantee of $57 million. A specially built showroom was constructed in the Mirage allowing the pair the technological luxuries to create astounding new illusions. Pop superstar Michael Jackson wrote a special theme for the show and British set designer John Napier created a jaw dropping environment and showroom to house the illusions and myriad of exotic animals who ran chain free around the stage. With the best lighting rig and sound system on earth at the time the show was for a long time the ultimate Las Vegas show. In 2001, they signed a lifetime contract with the hotel. The duo has appeared in around 5,750 shows together, mostly at The Mirage.

Danny Gans appeared in the specially built Danny Gans Theater at the Mirage. His show played from 1996 until 2008. In 2009 Gans opened at Steve Wynn Encore with a ten year contract. Unfortunately, Mr. Gans died suddenly only 4 months into his agreement. Gan's talent was unmistakable. His history in Las Vegas goes back to a time he opened for Bill Cosby at The Hilton. Danny was supposed to do 30 minutes. Towards the end of his bit, Cosby walked on stage and introduced Danny Gans to the audience as the New Sammy Davis Jr. With that said Cosby told Gans to keep going and he performed for another 30 minutes. The next day, Bill Cosby had the marquee changed to make Gans name equal to his own.

Some of the entertainers who currently perform in that room are Jay Leno, Kevin James, Ray Romano and Brad Garrett.

Now appearing in the old Danny Gans theater ( re named the Terry Fator theater ) is the Singing Ventriloquist Terry Fator. 2006 winner of NBC hit TV Talent show America's got Talent Fator was soon snapped up by Las Vegas at first appearing at the Las Vegas Hilton during Barry Manilow's dark weeks. Eventually The Mirage offered Fator a reported $100 million 5 year contract to jump ship. His repertoire includes singing impressions of Kermit the Frog, Etta James, and Elvis Presley. His conversations with the puppets are hilarious, with Fator playing the straight man.

After the Siegfried and Roy show was cut short after a tragic accident where a white tiger attacked Roy live on stage in 2004 Cirque du Soleil where asked to create a show for the Mirage. Completely overhauling the Siegfried and Roy showroom creating a new in the round layout. Cirque created LOVE a tribute to the Beatles with their music and images being accompanied by the art and artistry of Cirque du Soleil.
